Worldcoin has been renamed to World Network, and it's announced that World Chain has launched on the mainnet
The digital identity project Worldcoin, backed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has announced its rebranding to World Network (shortened to World), and officially launched its Ethereum second-layer blockchain mainnet, World Chain.
World Network stated that as the project scale expands and the importance of the World ID human proof protocol increases, "Worldcoin" can no longer fully encapsulate the mission of the project. The new brand, World, consists of three core pillars: World Chain, World ID and the Worldcoin token. It aims to build a network composed of real verified humans to promote advancements in artificial intelligence.
World Chain is a "humans-only" community built on OP Stack that offers more practical applications and lower gas fees. In future it will also allow users to participate in determining the direction of development for World Chain. Well-known projects such as Optimism, Alchemy, Uniswap Safe Dune and Etherscan will support this blockchain's launch.
