Trump promises to end double taxation of Americans abroad
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in a statement to overseas voters that he will terminate the collection of income tax from Americans living in other countries. This is the latest tax proposal in his 2024 election campaign. This commitment can simplify the tax obligations of American citizens living overseas. Americans living anywhere in the world must submit tax information to the US Internal Revenue Service and must pay US taxes in addition to paying taxes in their country of residence. This commitment requires congressional approval and, according to the US State Department, could potentially reduce the tax bills of approximately 9 million Americans living overseas. (Jinshi)
