OpenAI is preparing to launch its new AI model, “Strawberry,” within the next two weeks as part of its ChatGPT service. According to reports from The Information, two people who have tried the model have noted that it is about reasoning and that it is designed to give a more deliberative kind of response than previous AI models.
Unlike other conversational AIs, Strawberry sets itself apart by ‘thinking’ before replying. This feature, therefore, allows the AI to give more thoughtful and accurate responses. Although Strawberry is a part of the larger ChatGPT, it will likely be a separate feature. While it is still uncertain how Strawberry will be incorporated. It is expected that it will function independently from other OpenAI models when it comes to its reasoning.
“Will likely have rate limits restricting users to some maximum number of messages per hour, with the potential for a higher-priced tier that’s faster to respond.”

However, the model is still in its early stages of development even though the release is anticipated. From the details provided , the first version of Strawberry will concern text-based tasks and will not have any capability of processing anything other than text. It will not have multimodal capability, which means that it can only recognize texts but cannot recognize or produce images for the moment. However, as OpenAI has demonstrated in previous cases, new versions of the model may have more sophisticated features in the future.

OpenAI continues to expand its influence in AI industry
OpenAI, led by CEO Sam Altman, has significantly advanced the development and commercialization of AI. Backed by Microsoft, the company has revived the interest of organizations in AI and has attracted significant investments from firms seeking to integrate AI features into their offerings.
After launching the first three business products, OpenAI has reported a high increase in the number of users. The firm disclosed last week that it currently has more than 1 million paying business customers, from 600,000 in April. This number also encompasses users of ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Team, and ChatGPT Edu, which were launched in August 2023, January, and May, respectively.
In a recent interview, the COO of the OpenAI, Brad Lightcap, commented on the company’s recent developments. Lightcap highlighted how AI changes the different sectors: education, healthcare, and government services. He highlighted that OpenAI products and services help increase efficiency, automate processes, and drive creativity in industries.
As previously highlighted by Cryptopolitan, OpenAI is making a funding round of several billion dollars that might value the firm at more than $100 billion. This financial boost is important as the company has a vast investment in AI research and development. OpenAI’s GPT-4 model development cost is estimated to be over $100 million, and the company is expected to spend more on Strawberry.
