Blockchain analytics firm SpotOnChain has flagged another significant movement of funds linked to the WazirX exchange hack. In the last 24 hours, the hackers transferred a total of 10,000 ETH, approximately $23.3 million. This transaction included a 5,000 ETH transfer to Tornado Cash, a privacy-focused mixer, and another 5,000 ETH sent to a new address, likely for further laundering.
Hackers’ Portfolio and Laundering Activities
The hackers have laundered a total of 12,600 ETH, or about $30.13 million, in the past eight days. They currently hold 49,100 ETH, valued at $115 million, with smaller allocations in CELR, OOKI, FRONT, and LOOM tokens. This brings their overall portfolio balance to approximately $118.34 million.
Tornado Cash has become a favored tool for cybercriminals to obscure their cryptocurrency transactions. SpotOnChain data reveals that four hackers, including those behind the WazirX breach, have deposited 20,561 ETH ($49.3 million) into Tornado Cash since September 1st. The Penpie hackers were particularly swift, laundering 11,261 ETH ($26.7 million) within four days of their theft. In contrast, the WazirX hackers still hold a substantial 54,155 ETH ($123 million), representing nearly 88% of the stolen funds.

Ethereum Price Drop and Tornado Cash Deposits
During this period, the price of Ethereum has fallen to as low as $2,169, a decline of over 13%. Analysis of Tornado Cash deposits between September 1 and September 8 provides a glimpse into the hackers’ activities. The Penpie hackers deposited 11,261 ETH and currently hold no ETH. The WazirX exploiters deposited 7,600 ETH and still hold a massive 54,155 ETH. The Bo Shen hackers deposited 1,500 ETH and now have 183 ETH remaining. Finally, the LiFi exploiter deposited 200 ETH and currently holds 1,705 ETH.

On an aggregate, these hackers have deposited 20,561 ETH (approximately $49.28 million) into Tornado Cash. Furthermore, they still retain a significant 56,043 ETH, valued at $127.62 million.
