Julian Assange Leaves UK After Striking Plea Deal with US DOJ, Reflecting on Wikileaks' History with Crypto

Julian Assange, co-founder of Wikileaks, has reached a plea deal with the U.S. Department of Justice and is now free. After spending five years in a U.K. jail cell and nearly seven years in Ecuador's embassy in London, Assange left the country on a private jet from Stanstead airport. His departure follows prolonged negotiations with the U.S. Department of Justice, culminating in a deal that has not yet been finalized. The history of Wikileaks and crypto is closely intertwined, with Assange stating in a 2014 interview that bitcoin and Wikileaks helped keep each other alive.
