The US Department of Justice stated on Wednesday that Wang Yunhe and his group "created and used malicious software" to invade and attack millions of civilian "Windows system" computers in multiple countries around the world. The US Department of Justice stated that from 2018 to July 2022, 35-year-old Wang Yunhe and his group obtained a total value of $99 million in encrypted and legal currency by selling hijacked proxy IP addresses. The statement said that these cybercriminals bypassed financial fraud detection systems after purchasing infected IP addresses, and "stole billions of dollars from financial institutions, credit card issuers, and federal loan programs." This includes fraudulent unemployment insurance claims created using IP addresses controlled by the criminals, resulting in nearly $6 billion in losses for the United States.
